Being a mom is so great, right? And terrifying and unknown and a little, well, chaotic? I remember crying to my mom when the big one was still tiny. We were getting ready to go out to eat and I cried because I was trying to wear some of my pre-baby, non-maternity clothes and I felt fat. She reminded me that I had just had a baby. I think I found a cardigan to wear even though it wasn’t cold outside. But still, months later, I found myself in this weird place, when I was trying to dress my body. It just wasn’t the same as it used to be. People told me that would happen, but it didn’t sink in until it happened to me.
I just wanted someone to tell me what to do. Tell me what to wear. Tell me where to shop and what to buy. Shoot, just ship it to me, because I really couldn’t be bothered to go out and shop for it, especially with a baby. Do people take babies shopping? Should I take my baby shopping? What do I do? Just put him in the stroller? What if he has to eat? Do I bring my boppy? I’m not buying fat clothes. I’ll just stay inside or wear sweat pants until some of these things fit again. True story. I was a little crazy. Can you relate?
In the end, I didn’t find anyone that would do these things for me, so I simply decided that if I wanted to be happy and feel good in my own skin again, I would have to do some of the legwork and figure a few things out on my own. And that’s what I did and what I’m here to share with you.
I also have a degree in Textile Technology with a concentration in Design, which, may not be that impressive, but I can tell you that I know a thing or two about both fabric and design. So there’s that.
